Starting a project

What to send, what the walkthrough covers, and how the written scope becomes the working plan.

What should I send when I ask for an estimate?

Text a few photos to (682) 408-1460 with your name, city, the type of project, the rooms or exterior surfaces involved, and the timing you have in mind. Wide photographs show the overall area; close photographs show peeling paint, damaged wood, drywall problems, fixtures, trim, or other concerns. If you have several handyman items, send the complete list so Daltonn can evaluate whether they make sense together.

Do you provide estimates by text or do you need to see the project?

Both, in that order. Text a few clear photos first and Daltonn can talk with you about what you want and give you a realistic ballpark. If that ballpark works for you, he schedules a free on-site visit to verify the size of the job, access, surface condition, repair needs, and finish details in person, and then puts together the final estimate.

What should a clear estimate explain?

The written scope should identify the areas and surfaces included, known preparation and repairs, the finish work being discussed, and important exclusions or assumptions. Larger choices—such as walls versus walls and trim, or a repaint versus repair-and-paint work—should not be hidden inside a vague total.

Can I ask for options instead of pricing everything as one package?

Yes. When useful, the highest-priority work and optional additions can be separated so you understand what belongs in the base project and what could be added or completed later. The exact structure depends on how closely the items are connected.

How do you decide whether my address and project are a fit?

Daltonn reviews the location, project type and size, visible conditions, schedule, access, and whether the requested work falls within the company’s painting, repair, finish, and focused handyman capabilities. No city-page listing automatically guarantees availability or acceptance of every project.

Paint, prep, and protection

Why the surface beneath the coating matters and how the surrounding home is considered before work begins.

What preparation may be needed before painting?

Preparation follows the actual surface. It may include cleaning, scraping, sanding, failed-caulk removal, re-caulking, filling, drywall repair, texture work, spot primer, stain blocking, or localized wood repair. Not every project needs every step, which is why the visible condition should be reviewed before the scope is finalized.

Can you paint over peeling paint, soft wood, cracks, or old patches?

A new coating cannot correct material that is already failing. Loose paint, soft or deteriorated wood, cracks, raised seams, hard-edged patches, active moisture, and failed joints should be understood first. Daltonn can discuss preparation or localized repair within the agreed capability and explain when another specialist should address the cause before finish work.

How are floors, furniture, landscaping, and nearby finishes protected?

Protection is planned around the individual work area. Depending on the scope, that may include moving or covering items, masking fixtures and adjoining finishes, protecting floors and hardscape, and working around landscaping, windows, counters, cabinets, or occupied rooms. The walkthrough is the time to discuss fragile items, pets, access, and surfaces that need special attention.

Can you help with colors, sheen, and product direction?

Daltonn can discuss how light, room use, existing colors, surface condition, cleanability, and the relationship between walls, trim, doors, cabinets, or exterior materials affect the choice. Final colors remain the homeowner’s decision, and samples are helpful because small chips and screens do not show every condition accurately.

Will a repaired or touched-up area be completely invisible?

That cannot always be promised. Existing paint age, sheen, texture, fading, lighting, material, and the size or location of the repair affect how well a local touch-up blends. Sometimes painting the full wall, ceiling plane, trim run, or connected surface creates the cleaner result.

Do you clean up after the project?

Cleanup and removal of normal project materials from the agreed work area are part of completing the job responsibly. The exact protection, daily organization, equipment placement, and final cleanup plan depend on the project and should be discussed before work starts.

Handyman and repair work

The practical projects Daltonn’s can review—and the existing conditions that determine whether an item is a straightforward fit.

What handyman work can I ask Daltonn’s about?

The focused service range includes suitable faucet replacements, ceiling fans, light fixtures, interior and exterior doors, crown moulding, baseboards, casing, hardware, shelves, caulk, drywall, localized wood repair, backsplashes, smaller tile areas, and multi-item punch lists. Send the full list because measurements, access, materials, existing connections, and finish work around each item affect the scope.

Can you replace a faucet?

A faucet replacement can be reviewed around the existing sink, visible supply lines, shutoffs, drain, access, and compatibility of the new fixture. Failed shutoffs, hidden leaks, damaged plumbing, relocation, or conditions beyond a straightforward replacement may change the scope or require a plumbing specialist.

Can you replace a ceiling fan or light fixture?

Replacement at an existing location may be a fit when the electrical box, visible wiring, controls, mounting, access, and new fixture are suitable. New circuits, panel work, concealed electrical changes, diagnosis of unsafe conditions, or work requiring another licensed trade should be handled by the appropriate specialist.

Do you install doors, crown moulding, and trim?

Yes, these can be discussed. Door and moulding work depends on accurate measurements, the opening or wall condition, alignment, attachment points, casing or returns, hardware, caulk, and the paint or stain finish around the completed installation.

Can you repair drywall or texture before painting?

Yes. Holes, cracks, nail pops, visible seams, previous patches, skim work, and common residential texture matching can be reviewed. The cause should be resolved first when damage came from water, movement, or another active condition.

Do you take on structural, major plumbing, or major electrical work?

Daltonn’s focus is professional painting, localized repair, finish carpentry, and focused handyman work. Structural alterations, new circuits, panel work, concealed plumbing changes, active-source repairs, permits, or conditions outside that scope may need a qualified specialist before Daltonn completes the surrounding finish work.

Scheduling and communication

How timing, discoveries, additions, occupied spaces, and future projects are handled without overpromising.

How far in advance should I reach out?

As early as you reasonably can, especially for larger exterior, interior, cabinet, repair, or multi-room work. Availability changes with active projects, weather-sensitive work, the size of your scope, and previously scheduled commitments. Daltonn confirms timing after reviewing the project rather than promising a standard lead time online.

What happens if additional damage or work is discovered?

Daltonn explains the visible condition and how it affects the agreed scope. Work outside the written estimate should be described and approved as a change before the additional work proceeds. That keeps a needed repair or homeowner request from quietly becoming an unexplained charge.

Can I add work after the project starts?

You can ask. Daltonn will explain whether the addition is compatible with the current sequence, what it changes in labor or material, and whether it affects the schedule. An approved addition should be documented rather than assumed.

Can we stay in the home during interior work?

Often the answer depends on the rooms, sequence, ventilation, access, pets, children, furniture, drying surfaces, and how much of the home is involved. Daltonn can discuss which areas need to remain clear and how to keep the work contained around an occupied home.

What if weather affects an exterior project?

Exterior preparation and coatings depend on workable site and weather conditions. Rain, moisture, temperature, wind, and surface readiness can affect the day’s plan. Daltonn communicates necessary adjustments rather than forcing a coating step when conditions are not appropriate.

Can I call Daltonn’s again for a different project later?

Yes. Building a useful long-term relationship is part of the company’s approach. A homeowner may begin with painting and return later for doors, trim, fixtures, drywall, cabinets, staining, tile, or another focused project. Each new scope is still reviewed on its own conditions and schedule.

Your project will have its own details

Still deciding what belongs in the estimate?

Send the address or city, the full project list, useful photographs, and the timing you have in mind. Daltonn can help separate the main scope from optional or follow-up work.
