Bungalow Restoration: Rotted Wood Out, Fresh Paint On

Daltonn’s Painting & Handyman Services restored the exterior of this Terrell bungalow. Rotted bottom boards and rotted wood around the windows were replaced, an old window patch was rebuilt with solid pieces so it no longer shows, and the whole house was brought into one green-and-cream color scheme. The covered porch deck was sanded and finished with Sherwin-Williams Forté.

Rotted bottom boards

“So we’re going to remove all these bottom boards… A lot of rot around these windows is getting replaced.”

Daltonn, on the walkthrough

The lowest boards had rotted along the side of the house. They came off, new boards went on, and the wall was prepped and painted with the rest of the house.

The old window patch

“It used to be a bigger window and they patched it in… We’re gonna put solid pieces so that way you can’t tell it was a patch.”

Daltonn, on the walkthrough

The wall below this window had been patched in where a larger window used to be. The patch boards came out, the wall was opened up, and solid pieces went back in so the patch no longer shows.

Work completed

The repairs came first. Then the paint.

“Back here was an addition that was just done. So we’re going to be using these colors… and continuing the whole house with it.”
